Commanders Coach Takes Responsibility for Leaving Daniels in Contest Before Significant Injury

The Commanders leader Dan Quinn has admitted he shares some the blame for a major ailment to the squad’s signal-caller, Jayden Daniels.

Particulars of the Injury and Context

Daniels, who had one of the greatest first-year performances in history last season, sustained a dislocated elbow joint in Sunday’s defeat to the Seahawks. Although Daniels passes with his dominant arm, the injury has placed his season uncertain. The condition was serious enough that the television broadcast avoided showing replays and several players looked away as Daniels was treated by medical staff.

Criticism and Coach’s Response

Quinn faced scrutiny as numerous felt Daniels should not have been on the playing surface in the first place. The incident occurred in the final period with the Washington trailing 38-7, making a recovery unlikely. It is typical in such situations for clubs to put in their reserve QB to prevent harm to their starter.

“I understand. I’ve been reflecting about it constantly, too, and, wow, I erred,” Quinn remarked of his decision to leave Jayden in the game. “That is 100% my fault.”

Fallout and Team Outlook

Mariota will be the team’s starting quarterback from now on, but he will lead a team in turmoil. After reaching the NFC championship game last season behind Daniels’s excellence, the franchise have struggled currently. They also saw injuries to cornerback Lattimore (ACL tear) and pass-catcher Luke McCaffrey (broken collarbone) on game day, and have a host of other starters on injured reserve. The Commanders are 3-6 so far, and it would require a huge turnaround for the club to make the postseason.
